Poynton 3 - 5 Wilmslow

Great game for the neutral, and a good cup final. Wilmslow undoubtably started the better team, and pushed on for the opening 30 mins, getting 2 goals in the process. Both goals were well taken, with some uncharacteristic errors in our defending. We pushed on a little towards the end of the half, a couple of good saves by the wilmslow keeper. Half Time 2-0.

We started the second half well, so good football, and finally got a goal back, lovely play by titch who slotted me in and i placed past the on coming keeper. You would have thought that the ascendency was with us from this point, and it was for about 5 minutes, however wilmslow got 2 goals at an important time, to make it 4-1.

We showed a never say die attitude which has been a catalyst in us winning the league, and we brought the game back to 4-3 with about 15 to play. Both goals came from 2 great deliveries from sub patty. Garner nodding one home and nathan firing past the keeper. The game opened up at this point and we pressed for a leveller. A good save from the wilmslow keeper and then we hit the post with a header.

Wilmslow then got a 5th - Game over at this point, we ran out of steam for the remainding 5 minutes.

It must have been a good game to watch, both teams capable of scoring plenty of goals. We left ourselves too much to do, after Wilsmlow dominated the opening exchanges. Good cup fianl to play in, just a shame about the result. Well played wilmslow and they were deserved champions on the day.

Also congrats to cheadle lions, great news to hear that the macc cup stays in the ecsfl.
