Cup Competition Rules

RULES GOVERNING CUP COMPETITIONS
RULE 1 – NAMES OF COMPETITIONS
1. A competition embracing all teams in the League shall be known as “The League Cup”.
2. A competition embracing teams in the first, second, or subsequent Divisions of the league shall be known as "The Division Cup"
3. A competition embracing a selection of teams invited to play by the committee shall be known as "The Invitation Cup"
4. The league can at Management Committee discretion play other cup competitions it deems fit in the playing season and shall name them accordingly.
RULE 2 – GOVERNMENT
1. The entire control and management of all the Competitions shall be vested in the League Management Committee of the East Cheshire Sunday Football League. (Hereafter called the Management Committee)
RULE 3 – EXEMPTION
1. All teams will be required to participate in the League cup and the respective divisional cups
2. A team can decline their invite to the Invitation cup by giving seven days notice from their receipt of the invitation to the League secretary
RULE 4 – ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS
1. A player must be registered for seven days before any round of the Competition to be eligible to play in that round of the Competition, except a semi final or final.
2. No player shall play for more than one team in either competition. When a player transfers to another Club within the East Cheshire Sunday Football league will not be eligible to play for the team he transfers to. (I.e. that player will be cup tied)
3. A player must have played in at least three league matches for the club to be eligible to play in a semi final or final
4. Clubs found guilty of playing ineligible players will be struck from that seasons Competition, the tie awarded to the opposing team and receive a fine at the discretion of the Management Committee
5. In the event of a postponed, drawn or replayed game, only those players who were eligible on the date fixed for the original tie will be allowed to play.
6. If a player is suspended on the date of the original tie but no longer suspended on a re-arranged date or replay date he is not eligible to play on the re-arranged or replay date.

RULE 5 - COLOURS
1. If, in the opinion of the referee, two Clubs have the same or similar colours, the home team shall make the change except in the finals where a colour clash will result in both teams having to change.
RULE 6 – VENUE
1. Except in the finals the Fixture Secretary will decide how best to allocate grounds, giving preference to the team first drawn. In the event of the first drawn team’s ground not being available, the tie shall be played on the opponents ground, or, if that is not available, on a neutral ground.
2. Finals shall be played on grounds determined by the Management Committee.
3. For the Invitation cup with the exception of the finals it is expected that both team secretaries arrange the fixtures at mutually agreed dates and venues and the home team to contact Referee’s Secretary to ask for a Referee.
RULE 7 – DRAWN TIES
1. In the event of a tie being drawn after 90 minutes, extra time of 15 minutes each way shall be played. With the exception of the Invitation Cup which will go straight to penalties.
2. If the tie is still a draw it shall be decided by the taking of five penalty kicks by each side, each kick to be taken by a different player. If after five penalty kicks have been taken by each team, neither side has converted more kicks than the other, penalty kicks shall continue to be taken, first by the six players on each team yet to take a penalty kick in the knock-out process, until one team fails to convert a penalty kick in which event the opposing team shall be declared winners provided it has converted the equivalent penalty kick in the sequence, or does so immediately after the failure to convert by the other team. This will apply also to semi-final and final ties.
RULE 8 – MATCH EXPENSES AND PROCEEDS
1. Referee’s Fee shall be shared by the competing Clubs, except in the finals, where the fees of the match officials shall be paid from League funds. It shall be the responsibility of the Secretary of the HOME (or first drawn) Club to pay the referee his FULL fee and the responsibility of the AWAY (or last drawn) Club Secretary to pay half of the fee to the Home Club Secretary immediately after the tie has been played
RULE 9 – HONOURS AND TROPHIES
1. The respective trophies for all the Competitions shall be awarded to the winners to hold until its return is required by the Management Committee.
RULE 10 – KICK-OFF TIME
1. All Cup matches shall kick-off at 10.45am with the exception of the Invitation cup which will be played in the evenings with a kick-off at 6.15pm
